An ecommerce product-page checklist for clearer buying decisions.

Review product facts, variant selection, photography and purchase controls before publishing a new page.

less guessing. clearer choices.

What should a product page explain first?

Start with what the item is, who it suits and the facts that help someone choose. Use a specific title, a clear price and readable product information. Place important qualifications near the claim they explain, rather than leaving shoppers to discover them later.

For clothing, fit and measurements may be central. For a home item, dimensions and materials could matter most. Use questions from your own customers to decide what deserves prominence. Do not fill every product page with the same generic benefits.

Can customers confidently select the right variant?

Make choices such as size, colour and pack quantity explicit. Show which combinations are available, and make the selected option easy to recognise without relying on colour alone. Update the displayed image or price when a variant requires it.

Try changing variants after adding an item to the cart. Check that the cart retains the correct selection, quantity and price. Also test unavailable combinations so the page explains what happened and offers a sensible next step.

Are the buying details easy to find?

Explain delivery, returns and custom-order conditions using your actual policies. Provide useful information close to the purchase decision and link to the full policy where needed. Avoid promises that cannot be supported by the way your business operates.

Use photographs that answer practical questions about scale, texture and included parts. Keep supporting detail readable on small screens. A page should help the customer understand an item, not force them to interpret a decorative layout.

What should you test in the preview?

Use a narrow phone viewport, navigate by keyboard and try a realistic purchase path. Confirm the add-to-cart control remains reachable, form labels are clear and errors explain how to recover. Check an empty cart, an unavailable product and a changed quantity.

AI can help revise layout and wording, but verify the facts and behaviour yourself. In Markit, inspect the storefront preview before publishing. Record any recurring customer confusion and use it to choose the next improvement.
